For important additional information, go to http://www.chabotcollege.edu/online Instructors may use ConferZoom for some meetings. 1. Instructors will require students to use online textbooks/laboratory websites/programs. For example: McGraw Hill Virtual Labs. 2. Instructors may elect to provide a livestream of lecture so that students can ask questions, but where attendance/viewing is not necessarily mandatory, or instructors may post pre-recorded lectures. Online lecture recordings/files will always be made available regardless of lecture delivery style. They should contact the instructor to ask questions about the lecture style. 3. BIOL 31-EN1 is an online course with no required on-campus meetings. EXCEPT on the first Monday (6/14) of the class at 12:00 p.m. and a few subsequent Monday's at 12:00 p.m. for lab supply pickups. Students must be in line socially distanced 6 feet apart in the area between buildings 2100 and 3900 (at the entrance of building 2100) on 6/14 Monday at 12:00 p.m. Students must wear a mask once they are on campus. Late students will not be able to pick up a lab kit. The instructor will have a sign in sheet to confirm each students enrollment in Biology 31 and also a lab kit for the first home labs. Additional lab kit pickups will be scheduled at the 12:00 p.m. time later in the semester. Students will be assigned 6.75 hours of online lectures, 2 hours of synchronous labs via Zoom, and 4.88 hours of asynchronous online labs per week. Proctored exams will be assigned during extended synchronous lab time 1-2:15 p.m. on specific dates TBD. Students are required to complete the first lecture assignment by the end of the first day of online lecture (6/14) and attend the first zoom synchronous lab (6/14) in order to confirm their participation in the course. 2. The course will require students to use online textbooks/laboratory websites/programs with a desktop/laptop computer. Tablets/smartphones are not fully compatible with the course software. For example: Labster. Labster simulations can only be used on laptop or desktop based computers, which meet the following requirements: System: Processor: Dual core 2 GHz or higher, Memory: 4GB or more, Graphic card: Intel HD 3000 / GeForce 68000 GT Radeon X7000 or higher, OS: latest version of Windows (64bit) or Mac OS, Supported browsers: Latest version of Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, a stable internet connection. 3. Exams will require the use of an online proctoring software that requires a computer with a webcam and microphone. The software program is called Proctorio.
