| Bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses with an emphasis on their relationship to humans and disease. Cultivation, control, metabolism, body's defenses against disease, microbial genetics, laboratory tests, and contemporary infectious diseases. Methods used in the laboratory include staining, investigation, cultivation, identification of unknowns, and sensitivity testing. Prerequisite: BIOL 31 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher) or , BIOL 2 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher) or , BIOL 4 (completed with a grade of "C" or higher) and , CHEM 30A (completed with a grade of "C" or higher) or , CHEM 1A (completed with a grade of "C" or higher).
