PHSI 1-EN1 is an online course with no required on-campus meetings. Instructor will hold voluntary online synchronous class meetings via Zoom on M-Th 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. which will be recorded for those who cannot attend. Attendance is highly encouraged but not required. For important additional information, go to http://www.chabotcollege.edu/online Instructor's email address is zmarawala@chabotcollege.edu Instructor will use Zoom for lecture and lab presentations that will be recorded. Students are REQUIRED to show up on the first day for ORIENTATION/ROLL CALL and specific LAB FINAL EXAM dates. Students are highly encouraged to attend face to face class by Zoom but can learn asynchronously by use of the recordings that are posted as they become available usually by the next day. Many labs are demonstrated over Zoom that students will be able to follow along and even perform, using materials that will be in a kit. Students are expected to purchase a Physiology textbook compendium and lab manual packet with a basic toolkit. 1. Instructors may require students to use online textbooks/laboratory websites/programs. For example: Labster. Labster simulations can only be used on laptop or desktop based computers, which meet the following requirements: System: Processor: Dual core 2 GHz or higher, Memory: 4 GB or more, Graphic card: Intel HD 3000 / GeForce 68000 GT Radeon X7000 or higher, OS: latest version of Windows (64-bit) or Mac OS, Supported browsers: Latest version of Firefox, Chrome, or Safari, a stable internet connection. 2. Instructors may elect to provide a livestream of lecture so that students can ask questions, but where attendance/viewing is not necessarily mandatory, and online lecture recordings/files will always be made available. They should contact the instructor to ask questions about the lecture style. 3. Lab classes may require students to receive shipments of non-toxic lab experiment supplies, such as non-toxic dissection kits with non-toxic preserved animals, supplies, etc.
